SLC32A1 and Dystonia: Following ChR2 stimulation of the STN axons in the GP (but not the EPN), the mice displayed more stereotyped movements (grooming) and dystonia-like behaviors (torsion of the neck and left forelimb), and displayed less resting and exploration, similar to the behaviors produced by ChR2 stimulation of GABAergic neurons in the right GP in the VGAT-ChR2-EYFP transgenic mice.
