SLC32A1 and Dystonia: Following ChR2 stimulation of the STN axons in the GP (but not the EPN), the mice displayed stereotyped movements (grooming) and dystonia-like behaviors (torsion of the neck and left forelimb) similar to the behaviors produced by ChR2 stimulation of GABAergic neurons in the right GP in the VGAT-ChR2-EYFP transgenic mice.
