Several authors have reported the upregulation of specific MMPs in samples of cervical carcinoma when compared to control healthy tissue, including MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-9, MMP-10, MMP-11, MMP-12, MMP-13, MMP-14 (MT1-MMP) and MMP-15 22,27,31,54–56. The gene discussed is MMP1; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
