Higher levels of apoptosis occurred at 72 h in the NDC for normal and CML CD34+ cells co-cultured on HS5 (Fig. S3C–E), this is due to the increased proliferation observed, with on average a twofold expansion of cell numbers when compared to culture on plastic ±BMP4 at 72 h. The gene discussed is CD34; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
