Importantly, in comparison with the simple model (OR = 0.72 (0.57–0.92)), even after adjusting for CKD stage and demographic variables (age, sex and smoking status), low levels of TRAIL resulted independently associated with the formation of two or more new plaques (OR = 0.75 (0.59–0.96), p = 0.025).
