Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs) are defined as tumors lacking the expression of estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-α), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2), which accounts for approximately 15% of total breast cancer patients, and is more prevalent among young African, African-American and Latino women patients [4]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
