The close relationship with unfavorable prognostic markers (i.e., ZAP-70, CD38, 11q, and 17p deletion), observed in our study, suggests a potential role of TLR2 expression as a prognostic factor, though the results of our studies do not allow for a clear definition of the role of TLR2 in the development and progression of CLL. The gene discussed is CD38; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
