In contrast, consistent with the above reported ERβ anti-proliferative and antagonistic effects on ERα [56,68,82], soy isoflavones (genistein, daidzein, glycitein) suppress colon carcinoma cell growth by decreasing, via ERβ, the mitogenic signaling pathways ERK1/2 and PI3K/Akt, and the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and NF-κB [125]. Here, ESR2 is linked to colon carcinoma.
