RBP4 and atherosclerosis: As shown in this study, diabetic rats with atherosclerosis which received vitamin D therapy had lower LDL-c, TC, CRP, SBP, RBP4, HOMA-IR, AI1, and AI2 and higher HOMA-β and improved histological aspect of thoracic aorta compared with those without the treatment, which demonstrates that it is helpful to prevent atherosclerosis by controlling blood glucose, blood pressure, IR, and inflammation after vitamin D supplements.
