The findings showed that major alterations occurred only at the acute parasitemia peak period (corresponding to 9 dpi) due to increased levels of IFN-gamma (5500-fold), TNF-alpha (754-fold) and IL-6 (260,000-fold) in untreated and infected mice as compared to uninfected and untreated animals (Fig. 16).
