CANTOS demonstrated that administration of canakinumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting IL-1β, significantly lowered the rate of recurrent cardiovascular events, compared with placebo, in 10,061 patients with previous myocardial infarction and a high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) concentration ≥2 mg/L, independent of lipid lowering. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and myocardial infarction.
