Mice harboring a mutation in Mdm2 (Mdm2C305F), which results in higher availability of Mdm2 due to disrupted binding to ribosomal protein L11 (Rpl11) and consequently higher ubiquitination and reduced activity of p53, are resistant to high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity [66]. This evidence concerns the gene MDM2 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
