Cancer cells exhibit a decreased expression of anchor proteins such as E-cadherin [37–39] and beta-catenin [37], a loss of cytokeratins and EpCAM (epithelial cell adhesion molecule) [40–42] with upregulation of mesenchymal markers such as vimentin, N- and O-cadherins [43, 44]. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and cancer.
