In a cross-sectional study on patients with T2DM, serum AG levels increased in T2DM patients with NAFLD compared with those in patients without NAFLD, demonstrating that elevated AG levels are associated with NAFLD, and an increase in AG over 0.52 ng/ml could be used as a diagnostic marker for NAFLD detection in patients with T2D [109]. This evidence concerns the gene RENBP and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
