Asians with NSCLC have improved OS due to difference in disease biology such as increased prevalence of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation.26, 27 A California Cancer Registry study showed improved NSCLC‐specific mortality among foreign‐born Hispanics compared to non‐Hispanic Whites and Hispanics born in United States.28 In our study, Asian race and Hispanic race were associated with improved OS in multivariate model with the HR for OS being 0.78 and 0.81, respectively (P < 0.001). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
