The most significant findings were as follows: (1) Ghrelin treatment decreased myocardial fibrosis and improve myocardial hypertrophy induced by Ang II; (2) Ghrelin treatment increased PPAR-γ protein expression and decreased TGF-β1 downstream protein expression in Ang II-infused rats;(3) Ghrelin attenuated myocardial fibrosis related protein expression and inhibited CF proliferation in response to Ang II; and (4) GW9662 inhibited these effects of Ghrelin. This evidence concerns the gene GHRL and cardiac hypertrophy.
