CD4 and Opportunistic infection: Emphasis is put on baseline CD4 testing for assessing immune status and fast tracking individuals into care, especially < 200 cells/ul, or screening for opportunistic infection.6,7 Adults on ART thus undergo CD4 testing at 12 months and then annually when indicated clinically.4 The overall mandate for care is to ensure timely ART initiation for all eligible persons within two weeks of CD4 testing and within seven days for fast tracking.4,5
