MYLK and cancer: Non-cancer lung epithelial cells (Beas2b) displayed expression of only MYLK, however, these cells expressed both MYLKP1 and MYLK after transfection with MYLKP1. Cancer cells (H23, H460, H441) displayed basal expression of both MYLK and MYLKP1. After MYLKP1 transfection, cancer cells preferentially over-express the smaller target, MYLKP1, indicating that MYLKP1 suppresses expression of MYLK (Fig 1).
