Among these point mutations, BRAFV600E represents the most frequent alteration observed in melanoma (Forbes et al., 2017) and many scientific evidences suggest that BRAFV600E mutation is associated with the over-expression of MMP-9 in several tumor types, including melanoma (Mesa et al., 2006; Frasca et al., 2008; Guarneri et al., 2017).
