In parallel, our group pointed out that LXR-deficient mice fed with a high cholesterol diet presented a neoplasia within the prostate epithelium, characterized by the downregulation of the tumor suppressor Homeobox protein NKX3.1 and beta-microseminoprotein MSMB and the upregulation of pro-oncogenic factors such as CyclinD1 and CyclinD2 [58].
