NLRP3 inflammasomes are the most well-characterized members of the nod-like receptor family, which consists of NLRP3, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase activation recruitment domain (ASC) and precursor caspase-1 (pro-caspase1), and it plays great roles in ischemic stroke by triggering the release of IL-1β and IL-18 via caspase-1 activation [5, 6]. Here, CASP1 is linked to ischemic stroke.
