Recently, Soukap and collaborators reported the value of a 2-protein biomarker panel (synuclein G and midkine) combined with cytology in BC detection (91.8% sensitivity and 97.5% specificity) and showed that the addition of CEACAM1 and ZAG2 proteins to this panel enables the prediction of BC recurrences, achieving 92.7% sensitivity and 90.2% specificity [191]. The gene discussed is CEACAM1; the disease is breast cancer.
