Numerous studies have been conducted on the effects of a range of candidate genes (i.e. APOE: apolipoprotein E; ACE: angiotensin I convertingenzyme; MTHFR: 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase; NOS3: nitric oxide synthase 3 [endothelialcell]; ADD1: adducin 1) on the CIMT, the results of which could provide useful insights into the genetic influences regarding atherothrombotic disease, as well as large artery ischemic stroke and ischemic heart disease. Here, ADD1 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
