In a study by Servais et al (27) on 925 dyslipidemic patients, cystatin C values were significantly higher in patients with MetS than in patients without (0.86±0.23 vs 0.79±0.20 mg/L, p 0.0001) and were correlated with dyslipidemia (p<0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CST3 and metabolic syndrome.
