As demonstrated by numerous studies, the EGFR is known to be overexpressed on the membrane of many malignant cancer cells including HCC cells, which provided the basis for molecular therapies of HCC using EGFR inhibitors gefitinib, erlotinib, cetuximab, and antiangiogenic compounds (e.g., bevacizumab and sunitinib)19,20. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
