However, for the esophageal cancer group, the COX-2 8473 T > C polymorphism was significantly associated with an increased risk in the heterozygote comparison and dominant model (TC vs. TT: OR = 1.35, 95% CI = 1.10–1.66, P = 0.004; (CC + TC) vs. TT: OR = 1.33, 95% CI = 1.10–1.63, P = 0.004), but not in the homozygote comparison, recessive model and allele analysis. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and esophageal cancer.
