The neuroprotective effects of FGF2 have been demonstrated in many studies that FGF2 promotes proliferation of neural progenitor cells in neurogenic niches, enhances synaptic plasticity and axonal branching and ameliorates the behavioral deficiency in neurodegenerative diseases (Baron et al., 2012; Elsayed et al., 2012; Kiyota et al., 2012; Woodbury and Ikezu, 2014; Tang et al., 2017). The gene discussed is FGF2; the disease is neurodegenerative disease.
