ADNP mRNA levels have been shown to be dysregulated in Alzheimer's disease and in schizophrenia (Matsuoka et al., 2008; Dresner et al., 2011; Merenlender–Wagner et al., 2015; Ivashko–Pachima et al., 2017; Sragovich et al., 2017), and mutations in the ADNP gene have been found in patients with autism spectrum disorder (Helsmoortel et al., 2014). Here, ADNP is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
