The host response and viral dynamics following ZIKV infection in PTMs reported here, including a marked increase in monocyte frequency in the blood and increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines/chemokines (IL-1RA, MCP-1, and IL-15) during peak viremia closely resembles responses to ZIKV infection previously reported in RMs7,9, but differs in other measures including enhanced plasma sCD40L and IL-8 and lack of sporadic plasma viral blips following viral clearance at 7 dpi6,7,9. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and Zika virus infectious disease.
