ALB and congenital analbuminemia: In total, 78 cases have been reported in the analbuminemia register (; www.albumin.org) and the prevalence of the disease is estimated to be less than 1 in 1 million.108 Individuals with analbuminemia have been reported to have elevated levels of other plasma proteins, including coagulation factors, as a compensatory mechanism.108 It is thought that those proteins take up most of the functions of albumin and therefore it is unclear if Zn2+ transport in plasma is affected or not.
