Arenobufagin has also shown anti-neoplastic activity against HCC HepG2 cells, as well as the corresponding multidrug-resistant HepG2/ADM cells, increasing Bax/Bcl-2 expression ratio, and inhibiting the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and hepatocellular carcinoma.
