Recently, several genes and pathways have been investigated for a potential role in the development of HCC to clarify the genetic background of the disease, one of which is AKR1B10. Located at 7q33, AKR1B10 contains 10 exons and 9 introns, with a length of 13.8 kb and several putative oncogenic and tumor suppressor protein binding sites in its promoter [23]. The gene discussed is AKR1B10; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
