The study group concluded that “treatment with perindopril, on top of other preventive medications, should be considered in all patients with coronary heart disease.” Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) as “recent advances in risk reduction” were interpreted on the basis of results obtained in the ONTARGET trial (Guthrie, 2009) in which the ACE inhibitor ramipril and the ARB telmisartan were found equally effective in reducing the incidence of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, and hospitalization for heart failure in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Here, ACE is linked to stroke disorder.
