NOS2 and anemia (phenotype): This contrasts the findings by Levesque et al. [15], in Tanzania, where the C1173T SNP was found to reduce the risk of symptomatic malaria by almost 90%, and that of severe malarial anaemia in Kenya by 69%, and Kumar et al. [21], in India, where NOS2 1173CC+CT genotypes and the NOS-1173 TT genotypes were observed to be associated with an increased risk of malaria.
