L1CAM and L1 syndrome: sax-7 encodes a homolog of the L1 cell adhesion molecule that is also widely involved in neurodevelopment, including axon guidance and fasciculation, and is disrupted in a human neurological disorder called L1 syndrome (Bénard et al., 2012; Chen and Zhou, 2010; Kim and Emmons, 2017; Sakurai, 2012; Sasakura et al., 2005).
