Whatever the major IGF-1R signaling transduction pathway activated (PI3K/AKT and/or RAS/MEK/ERK pathway) in a human epithelial cancer, current evidence shows that there is a tumor-specific molecular signature, acting at protein and mRNA level, that enables activation of EMT-promoting transcription factors (such as SNAILs, ZEBs and TWISTs). This evidence concerns the gene IGF1R and neoplasm.
