In agreement with these findings in clinical specimens, NSCLC cell lines with activating EGFR mutations may develop an EMT phenotype upon long‐term exposure to erlotinib or gefitinib.6, 7 EMT is a cellular program characterized by loss of an epithelial gene expression signature, such as E‐cadherin, and gain of activation of genes that partially define mesenchymal features, such as vimentin.
