Pressure overload and cardiac hypertrophy share common inducers (e.g., endothelin and angiotensin II) that activate downstream matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs, such as MMP2 and MMP7) and a disintegrin and metalloproteinases (ADAMs, such as ADAM12 and ADAM17) via activating Gq protein-coupled receptors [2, 5–7]. Here, AGT is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
