In our study at the initial infection site of Nlrp3−/−, Asc−/−, and Caspase-1/11−/− mice infected with N. caninum, the numbers of both monocytes/macrophages and neutrophils were increased, but they failed to limit the N. caninum replication, and cytokines IFN-γ, IL-12, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-10 were not altered when compared with WT mice. This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and infection.
