This correlates to similar changes in FFA levels, which return to normal after 24 to 48 hours after myocardial ischemia [103], but is in contrast to explanations invoking N-terminally modified albumin, as albumin has a half-life of ca. 20 days and so IMA should be detected for several days following ischemia [104], [105].
