Cholesterol depletion with methyl β-cyclodextrin (MCD) incubation caused impaired signaling processes (54–56), diminished the amplitude of capsaicin-induced currents in primary sensory neurons, but had no effect on heat-induced activation in TRPV1-transfected Xenopus laevis oocytes (57, 58) or agonist binding to TRPV1 in rat C6 glioma cells (59). Here, TRPV1 is linked to glioma.
