Although TIF1γ autoantibodies have been strongly associated with malignancy in dermatomyositis, none of the 60 patients with lung cancer tested positive for anti-TIF1, anti-NXP2 or anti-RNAP III autoantibodies (by either IP or TIF1γ ELISA), indicating that these autoantibodies are rare in patients with lung cancer without an autoimmune disease. The gene discussed is TRIM33; the disease is autoimmune disease.
