PITPNC1 has also been implicated in breast cancer cell metastasis: PITPNC1 expression is a key target of the metastasis-suppressing microRNA, miR-126 (Png et al., 2011); up to 46% of breast cancer tumors show amplified PITPNC1 expression; and an interaction between PITPNC1 and RAB1B at the Golgi was shown to drive malignant secretion of molecules that promote metastasis (Halberg et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene PITPNC1 and breast carcinoma.
