PITPNC1 has also been implicated in breast cancer cell metastasis: PITPNC1 expression is a key target of the metastasis-suppressing microRNA, miR-126 (Png et al., 2011); up to 46% of breast cancer tumors show amplified PITPNC1 expression; and an interaction between PITPNC1 and RAB1B at the Golgi was shown to drive malignant secretion of molecules that promote metastasis (Halberg et al., 2016). The gene discussed is PITPNC1; the disease is breast cancer.
