A study of 397 CRC patients under surveillance, assessed accuracy of a panel of methylated ctDNA biomarkers (BCAT1 and IKZF1) and found that sensitivity and specificity for recurrence was 68 and 87% respectively, significantly higher than sensitivity of CEA (32%) with no significant difference in specificity (94%) (37). The gene discussed is CEACAM5; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
