While RANBP2 has previously been reported to enhance HIV-1 infection, the domains required and the mechanism by which RANBP2 facilitates HIV-1 infection remain controversial (Dharan et al., 2016; Di Nunzio et al., 2012; Meehan et al., 2014; Schaller et al., 2011; Zhang et al., 2010)(reviewed in (Matreyek and Engelman, 2013). The gene discussed is RANBP2; the disease is HIV-1 infection.
