INS and Hyperglycemia: A study by Campbell et al. [44] showed that combining insulin adjustments (75% decrease in pre-exercise bolus) with intake of low glycemic index carbohydrate eaten as a meal and bedtime snack after exercise (45 min at 70% of VO2peak) results in less post-prandial hyperglycemia (compared to a high glycemic index meal), while also providing protection against hypoglycemia.
