c‐Myc and E2F1 can activate each other's transcription and form a positive feedback loop.48, 49 c‐Myc is up‐regulated in HPV‐positive cervical cancer.50 It was reported that the ability of c‐Myc to activate transcription partly relies on recruiting cofactor complexes including GCN5.34 The c‐Myc protein could be acetylated by GCN5/PCAF, resulting in an increase in protein stability.34 As the expression levels of both GCN5 and E2F1 were high in E7‐expressing cells (Figure 1), we speculated that c‐Myc could be acetylated by GCN5 in E7‐expressing cells to regulated E2F1 expression. This evidence concerns the gene KAT2B and cervical carcinoma.
