Published guidelines based on “expert opinion” recommends transfusion of plasma for the following clinical indications: active bleeding in the setting of multiple coagulation factor deficiencies (massive transfusions, disseminated intravascular coagulation); emergency reversal of warfarin in patients with active bleeding in settings where prothrombin complex concentration with adequate level of factor VII is not available; and for use as replacement when performing plasma exchange [26–30].
