This is well exemplified by LRRK2, initially identified in the first leprosy GWAS (20) and later replicated in an Indian population (36); LRRK2 participates in the control of autophagy with involvement of the small GTPase RAB32 (53), which gene is associated with leprosy in two unrelated GWAS (21, 31). Here, RAB32 is linked to leprosy.
