LRRK2 and leprosy: This is well exemplified by LRRK2, initially identified in the first leprosy GWAS (20) and later replicated in an Indian population (36); LRRK2 participates in the control of autophagy with involvement of the small GTPase RAB32 (53), which gene is associated with leprosy in two unrelated GWAS (21, 31).
