A total of 623 lncRNAs were differentially expressed in PCOS and may contribute to its occurrence [19].Among these lncRNAs, Prader-Willi region nonprotein coding RNA 2 (PWRN2) (transcript ID: ENST00000567246.1), which is expressed in the testes and is up-regulated after meiosis during spermatogenesis [20], was found to be up-regulated (3.11-fold) in the cumulus cells of patients with PCOS. Here, PWRN2 is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
