Fourth, our research is not the first one to show the involvement of ANGPTL8 in diabetic kidney disease development, previous study has already confirmed that ANGPTL8 is significantly increased in type 2 diabetic patients with different stages of albuminuria (26), however, in this study, we further highlighted the possible mediator role of TG in the relationship between ANGPTL8 and diabetic kidney disease in type 2 diabetic patients, this work might has some potential implications for future research investigating the underlying mechanism for this relationship. The gene discussed is ANGPTL8; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
